Three Aggie Softball Players Set To Play Against USA Olympic Softball Team Wednesday

July 7, 2008

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball players Simone Hubbard, Megan McDonald and Michelle Workman will be playing against the USA Softball Women's National Team as members of the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) Northwest Regional All-Star team on Wednesday, July 8. The Portland Metro Softball Association is hosting the event at Erv Lind Stadium in Portland, Ore., and the game is set to start at 8 p.m. (MT).

"It's a great opportunity for these ladies to play against the defending Olympic champions, who are the best in the world," said Utah State softball head coach Candi Letts. "This will be a lifetime memory for them and they will be representing Utah State softball in a positive manner."

The 2008 Softball Women's National Team is competing in over 40 cities as a part of the 2008 Bound 4 Beijing Tour to prepare the team for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The tour started on February 9 at the University of Arizona. The 2008 Women's National Team, who will travel to Beijing in August to defend their three gold-medals, is competing against NCAA Division I opponents, Regional All-Star teams as well as International Competition.

After the final game of the Tour in Irvine, Calif., the team will travel to Beijing on Aug. 4 for the Olympic Games. Competition will start Aug. 12 with the Gold Medal Game being played on Aug. 21.

Wednesday's game is sold out but GameTracker is available at www.usasoftball.com/events.
