USU Men's Tennis Begins Play at Wilson Invitational
Oct. 22, 2004 LAS VEGAS - After being delayed for a day and half due to rain, the Utah State men's tennis team began play at the Wison/ITA Mountain Region Men's Tennis Championships on Thursday. In the first round of singles play the Aggies were 4-4 on the day. All four matches were won in two sets. Aggie Dantley Young defeated Zach Levetan of Weber State, 6-4, 6-4. Kevin Stanworth battled Michael Suttner of Idaho and took the match in sets of 6-4, 7-6. Brad Ferguson beat Daniel Abeaboeru of Weber State 7-5, 6-2 and Hannes Schenk rounded out the day by beating Mike Urlarte of UNLV 6-0, 6-3. The Aggie women also continued play at the Wilson Invitaional in Tulsa. Jill Bennion and Carolyn Stephens teamed up in doubles action and were defeated by Sandra Blajer and Jana Kubicikova of Oklahoma State, 8-5. Play for both tournaments will continue through Sunday.
